KENT, WA – The Kent Black Action Commission (KBAC) proudly announces that Kendra A. Smith will co-host the highly anticipated 2025 Juneteenth Celebration, set to take place on Saturday, June 21st, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Morrill Meadows Park in Kent, Washington.

A respected community leader, advocate, and dynamic speaker, Kendra A. Smith brings passion and presence to this year’s celebration, which honors the enduring legacy of African American freedom, resilience, and cultural heritage. Her role as co-host will help guide a full day of festivities aimed at uniting the community in both celebration and reflection.
This year’s event promises to be one of the most vibrant yet, featuring free cultural food, live music, hip-hop performances, poetry, cultural dance, and special entertainment by the beloved jazz guitarist Michael Powers. Families and guests of all backgrounds are invited to attend this free event, which aims to educate, empower, and celebrate Black excellence.
“We are thrilled to have Kendra A. Smith as part of this important day,” said a representative from KBAC. “Her voice and leadership resonate deeply with the mission of Juneteenth, which is not just a celebration of freedom, but a recommitment to justice, unity, and progress.”
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States and is now recognized as a federal holiday. KBAC’s celebration provides a platform for both remembrance and celebration, showcasing local talent, Black-owned businesses, youth empowerment, and community engagement.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their families, wear cultural attire, and enjoy a day of connection and pride in African American heritage.
